Returning to Exercise After Physical Therapy
Finishing physical therapy can feel like a milestone and a question: what comes next? A gradual transition into ongoing exercise can help you continue practicing movement without assuming that exercise replaces clinical care.

Confirm that you are ready
Follow the guidance of your licensed healthcare provider. Ask whether there are movements, loads, positions, or symptoms that should change how you exercise.
Share relevant guidance
Tell your Pilates instructor what you were working on and provide any exercise restrictions. You do not need to disclose more private health information than is necessary to guide the session.
Begin with individual attention
A private session allows the instructor to observe your movement, choose an appropriate starting point, and adjust exercises without the pace of a larger class.
Progress gradually
Consistency and control matter more than intensity. New or worsening symptoms should be discussed with an appropriate healthcare professional rather than pushed through during exercise.
